The Kapuskasing Municipality and the District Professional Health Care Recruitment and Retention Committee have worked together for the past 10 years. In order to ensure a balanced assortment of health care providers in the area, the municipality and the committee offer an attractive incentive package. The Kapuskasing & District Healthcare Recruitment & Retention Committee's mandate is to recruit new healthcare professionals to come and establish a practice in Kapuskasing as well as the retention of the hospital's existing medical staff.
Our incentive package is impressive with superb earning potential. An Alternative Funding Agreement is in place for the Emergency Department. Financial incentives are also available through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. It is a great opportunity to practice rural medicine at its best with flexible hours. There are excellent teaching opportunities affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM).
We are looking for permanent Family Physicians, GP/Anaesthetist, Psychiatrist as well as locum physicians to join our group of eight Family Physicians, one General Surgeon and one GP/Anaesthetist.
Kapuskasing has a strong and supportive medical staff. The Medical Staff support and actively participate in in-service programs. There is a close working relationship between the physicians and administration. A cooperative effort and liaison on the various committees gives the physicians the opportunity to provide input into the future direction of the hospital.
A modern equipped medical office complex is adjacent to the Sensenbrenner Hospital, a 53 bed facility with access to the "North Network" videoconferencing, digital radiology, and host to many visiting specialists.
Kapuskasing is a bilingual (English and French) community of 8,600 with a catchment area of 13,000 in Northeastern Ontario. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, surrounded by nature & wilderness, numerous events and festivals, French and English elementary & secondary schools (Public & Catholic), as well as two colleges, one university and an alternative education centre. We have numerous churches of various denominations. It is a vibrant community boasting all the amenities associated with living in an urban centre and yet provides a cherished lifestyle of a small community.
