Recycling
The Town of Kapuskasing is a member of the Cochrane- Temiskaming Waste Management Board (CTWMB). The CTWMB is an independent entity with a Northern and a Southern Node comprised of sixteen (16) municipalities. The Northern Node is administered by the Town of Kapuskasing while the Southern Node is administered by the City of Temiskaming Shores .
The municipality's recycling facility is located at181 Brunetville Road. There are several recycling deposit boxes on Brunelle Road North, accross from the Sports Palace. Residential curbside recycling is additionally available through independent business operators.
Acceptable Materials
This program is restricted to the collection of #1 Pete Plastics, glass, aluminium, steel food and beverage containers (Fe), Old Corrugated Cardboard (OCC) as well as mixed residential paper (ONP). ONP would include such items cereal boxes, tissue boxes, soap and shoe boxes.
Paint cans and containers can be brought to Rona Hardware Store for proper disposal.
Composting
Hours of Operation (May - October): Monday - 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday - 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The compost site is only accessible by the Sports Palace parking lot near the former Lagoon area. Only the following materials are acceptable for this site: branches, tree stumps, leaves, grass clippings, other garden products. No bags or containers are allowed at the compost site. Products must be emptied in the identified bins. Please do not leave materials at gate.
