Camping, Fishing and Hunting
Kapuskasing is closely located to two major campsites including René Brunelle Provincial Park and Twin Lakes Camping, both situated in the neighbouring community of Moonbeam. Both campgrounds provide the ideal natural setting for adventure and tranquility in the Boreal Forest.

Fishing
Northern Ontario is well-known for its many pristine rivers and lakes. The Kapuskasing River is no different. It offers a beautiful setting to many sporting activities. The river merges with the Mattagami River, flowing north (as part of the Arctic watershed) towards James Bay and Hudson Bay.
The largest body of water around Kapuskasing is Rémi Lake, situated just east of town. Along with the Opasatika system, it is the most popular recreation area of the region, year-round.
- Walleye (yellow pickerel) is a favourite among local anglers
- Coarse fish such as yellow perch, white sucker and lake whitefish are also common in these lakes and rivers
- Although species preferring cold water are not as common, small brook trout can be found in O'Brien Creek
Located on the southwest end of town (accessed by Bonnieview Road off of Government Road West in the Mitchell's Corner neighbourhood), is the Boat Launch.
Hunting
Kapuskasing boasts a wide variety of wildlife consisting of both large and small animals.
