Railways The Northern Ontario Railway offers services between Kapuskasing and Toronto, transporting both freight and passengers (includes a bus connection from Kapuskasing to Cochrane). The railway operates on a daily basis, providing both day and night transportation to and from Toronto. This provincially-owned railway company possesses and maintains rail lines from North Bay to Moosonee, and Northwest to Calstock (144 km west of Kapuskasing). The line connects to the Algoma Central Railroad in Hearst, and to both the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railroads in North Bay. The Algoma Central Railroad also operates daily, transporting passenger and freight between Sault Ste. Marie and Hearst (100 km west of Kapuskasing). The line connects with the Ontario Northland line in Hearst and with Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railroads to the south. |
