The Town of Kapuskasing is a progressive municipality, working collectively to provide a higher quality of life for its residents. By encouraging expansion, the "Model Town of the North" welcomes countless opportunities within the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. The Kapuskasing Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) is a catalyst for community and economic development. Its mission is to coordinate strategic planning exercises and promotional marketing campaigns while pursuing innovative projects. Kapuskasing is "Open for Business". This new approach is indicative of the town's desire to maintain and support existing businesses, as well as to establish partnerships with prospective companies. The municipality is presently diversifying its economic base as Kapuskasing anticipates an era of wealth and prosperity. Five sectors have been identified and targeted by the KEDC for growth and expansion: Forestry and Mining, Service and Retail, Education, Transportation, and Value-Added Projects. The community is well-positioned to attract new investment. The available infrastructure, the skilled labour force and the accessible land make for a vibrant town capable of recruiting and retaining major development projects. Kapuskasing benefits from an almost completely bilingual labour force. Approximately 73% of the town's population is fluent in both French and English.Kapuskasing boasts a large pool of highly educated employees. Nearly 42.5% of its residents have high school diplomas, 18.1% possess trade certificates, and 10.4% have College diplomas or University degrees. Opportunities in Kapuskasing are vast and varied.
