Subject to the approval of the majority
of Council, except where otherwise provided, the Public Works Committee shall exercise the
following duties:
- Recommend to Council works of
permanent improvement together with estimated costs.
- Consider and report on all matters
dealing with streets, sidewalks, lanes, bridges, drainage sewers, sewage disposal, garbage
collection and disposal, town cleanlisness, pest and insect control and general public
safety.
- Be responsible for the proper
execution of all works of a capital construction nature.
- Be responsible for the major
maintenance and construction of all Corporation building and structures.
- Meet with and consider any requests
from the Canadian Union of Public Employees and report on same to Council.
- Examine and regulate all expenditures
in the Public Works Department.
- Examine the annual Public Works budget
and present to Council.
- Consider and report on such matters as
may from time to time be referred to the Committee by Council.
- Provide liaison and review any reports
and/or minutes submitted on behalf of the Cemetery Board and the Cochrane Timiskaming Recycling
Association.
