Probationary Firefighter - Permanent Full Time (Union)

Annual Salary: $68,126 (as per the Collective Agreement)
Reports to: On-Duty Officer
Probation Period: 12 Months
Vacancy Status: Operational Vacancy

Reporting to the On-Duty Officer; the selected candidate will attend training sessions, respond to
emergency calls, perform equipment and vehicles maintenance inspection, perform fire prevention
and public education duties and attend meetings as requested by the Fire Chief or designate.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education
• Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Level II, or an equivalent qualification
• Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications – Pumper, or an equivalent qualification
• Complete ICS/IMS 100 Introductory Emergency Management Training
• Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of continued employment
• Hold a valid Class DZ Driver’s License, or equivalent, permitting the operation of emergency response vehicles
• Be physically and medically fit to perform the duties of a firefighter
• Hold a valid First Aid / CPR Certification
• Possess experience as a firefighter
• Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset

If not qualified, the candidate must be willing to complete the ICS/IMS 100 within the first week of employment.

Volunteer Firefighter - Paid-On-Call

Hourly Wage: As per The Kapuskasing Fire Department Volunteer Group
Reports to: On-Duty Officer
Probation Period: 12 Months
Vacancy Status: Vacant

The Town of Kapuskasing is looking for dedicated individuals who are ready to answer the call when their
community needs them. Based out of the Kapuskasing Fire Hall, Volunteer Firefighters respond to
emergencies, participate in regular training, and work together to protect the lives and property of our
residents.

No previous firefighting experience is required—all training is provided.

WE ARE SEEKING INDIVIDUALS WHO:

• Are at least 18 years of age
• Have a minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• Hold a valid Ontario Class G driver's license; a Class D with Z endorsement would be considered an asset
• Live or work within a reasonable response distance of the Kapuskasing Fire Hall
• Are physically fit and capable of performing the duties of a firefighter
• Demonstrate dependability, integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the community
• Are willing to participate in regular training and emergency response
• Firefighting experience and certification in First Aid / CPR would be an asset
• Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
