Probationary Firefighter - Temporary Full Time (Union)
Annual Salary: $68,126 (as per the Collective Agreement)
Reports to: On-Duty Officer
Probation Period: 12 Months
Vacancy Status: Temporary Operational Vacancy
Reporting to the on-duty officer; the selected candidate will attend training sessions, respond to
emergency calls, perform equipment and vehicles maintenance inspection, perform fire prevention
and public education duties and attend meetings as requested by the Fire Chief or designate.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education
- Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Level II, or an equivalent qualification
- Hold IFSAC or ProBoard Certification – NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications – Pumper, or an equivalent qualification
- Complete ICS/IMS 100 Introductory Emergency Management Training
- Maintain a clear criminal record, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of continued employment
- Hold a valid Class DZ Driver’s License, or equivalent, permitting the operation of emergency response vehicles
- Be physically and medically fit to perform the duties of a firefighter
- Hold a valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Possess experience as a firefighter
- Bilingualism is a requirement (French and English)
- The position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment
The candidate must be willing to complete the ICS/IMS 100 within the first week of employment.

Airport Maintenance and Equipment Operator

Reports to: Airport Manager
Shift: Day shift with rotational on-call
Vacancy Status: Vacant
Reporting to the Airport Manager, the Maintenance and Equipment Operator is responsible to assist in the operation and maintenance of the Corporation's Airport facilities, properties and equipment. The incumbent will also report to the General Manger of Public Works as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum grade 12 education or equivalent experience
- Must have and maintain a current “DZ” driver’s license
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment operation
- Valid Ontario Mechanics License for Heavy-Duty Equipment is an asset
- Must possess or be willing to obtain work related safety training required and provided by the Corporation
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Firearm Acquisition Certificate, Restricted Radio Telephone License, Valid Airside Vehicle Operators Permit
- Must be proficient in the English language for radio communication
- Knowledge and experience of procedures, acts, guidelines including TP 312, 5 Edition, B836-05 handbook and SDS th system is an asset
- Knowledge of airport terminology is an asset

Salary Range: $116,286 - $127,069

The Town of Kapuskasing is seeking an experienced and progressive municipal leader to fill the position of General Manager of Public Works. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the ideal candidate is a collaborative and results-oriented professional with strong leadership, project management, and financial management skills. With a commitment to public service excellence, safety, and continuous improvement, this individual will play a key role in supporting the Town's infrastructure, operations, and long-term growth.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Public Works Administration, or a related
field - Minimum five (5) years of progressive management experience in municipal public works, construction
infrastructure, engineering, or a related field - Thorough knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems, including roads, drainage, water and wastewater services, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act, relevant legislation/guidelines/policies and procedures, labour relations and the local community
- Knowledge of applicable legislation such as TSSA Liquid Fuels Handling Code, MEA Municipal Class EA guidelines, Ontario Structural Inspection Manual, OPSS Standards & Specifications, Ontario Highway Traffic Act, MTO Highway Design, MOE regulations, Ontario Clean Water Act.
- Experience managing staff, budgets, capital projects, contracts, and service delivery
- Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of applicable municipal, environmental, and health and safety legislation
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), experience with GIS,
asset management software, as well as IMS system software, is considered an asset - Strong leadership ability and excellent public relations, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Valid Class "G" Driver's License with a satisfactory driver's abstract
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in both English and French is an asset
