Recreation Director

Permanent, Full Time - Salaried position
Annual Salary: $89,845 to $98,176

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for general and financial management of the Department including, Parks, Recreation Facilities, Recreation Services and Cemetery in alignment with the strategic vision of the Corporation and Council.  

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Administration or related discipline
  • Certified Recreation Facilities Professional Designation is an asset.
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel within and outside the community as required.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, database management, and office equipment. Knowledge of recreation software (e.g. Univerus Rec) and Vadim is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of parks and facilities construction and maintenance management, program design concepts and marketing strategies, provincial grant processes, applicable legislative/regulation standards, community development techniques, and local government functions/responsibilities
  • Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, analytical, problem-solving, report writing, inspection, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members.
  • Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and good judgment particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information. Possess a high level of initiative and personal integrity. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities in both French and English languages.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cohesive and motivated teams to meet corporate goals, objectives and initiatives. Experience in volunteer organizations and volunteer management is an asset.
